The Department of Labor has set aside some Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds from the Dislocated Worker Program to address the reemployment needs of workers laid off from companies that close or downsize significantly.

When all workers or a large percent of a company's workers are laid off, the WDB takes action to secure Special Response Grants to assist these workers.  Services to both the company and the workers are intended to quickly address reemployment and retraining needs of the affected workers.
